A Brand new Exorcist trilogy is coming, and no it's not a remake! Universal and Peacock are reviving the franchise, in partnership with Blumhouse and Morgan Creek. Here's everything we know so far.
David Gordon Green is set to direct the Blumhouse-produced project which will star Academy-Award® Nominee Leslie Odom Jr. (One Night In Miami, Hamilton) and marks the return of Ellen Burstyn to The Exorcist universe. Burstyn was not involved in any of the subsequent movies in the franchise, and we are incredibly excited about her return. Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, The Quarry), Danny McBride (Halloween Kills, Halloween) and David Gordon Green teamed up for the story, which is being penned by Peter Sattler (Broken Diamonds) and David Gordon Green.
Burstyn will be reprising her iconic Academy-Award nominated role as Chris MacNeil, a mother who survived the possession of her twelve-year-old daughter, Regan (Linda Blair) in the original movie (with the help of two priests who weren't so lucky). The trilogy will be produced by Jason Blum on behalf of Blumhouse, David Robinson and James Robinson for Morgan Creek, David Gordon Green, Danny McBride and Couper Samuelson will executive produce, with Ryan Turek overseeing the project for Blumhouse.

The trilogy will follow a flexible distribution model, which producer Jason Blum is excited about.
