All the way back in January, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Spring, The Endless) dropped their latest feature, Something in the Dirt, on an unsuspecting crowd at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Reactions to the pair's latest were unsurprisingly strong (by now, these guys have more than acquitted themselves as highly-talented genre filmmakers), and seemed to suggest that Something in the Dirt might represent their strangest, most personal film yet.

That would certainly track with what we can see in the teaser trailer, which was just released by XYZ Films.

Here, have an official plot synopsis:

Two new neighbors witness what seems to be a supernatural event in one of their apartments. At first terrified, they realize that documenting this phenomenon could provide them the lives they’ve always dreamed of.

Benson and Moorhead have become quite the dynamic duo over the past decade, and might be unparalleled in their talent for weaving comedy, horror, sci-fi, and dirtbag characters into such compelling tapestries. Their most recent effort, Synchronic, was their most polished film yet, and revolved around two paramedics investigating the curious case of a designer drug that causes time-warping effects in the minds of those who use it. Something in the Dirt appears to be something a bit more low-key, perhaps more in line with their 2012 film Resolution than anything else, and if so it'll be good fun to see them returning to their roots.

This one hits theaters on November 4th. While we're waiting, feel free to head on over to this page to read our exclusive interview with the boys about their latest mindfuck.
