We love all kinds of horror movies here at FANGORIA, and one of our favorite horror flavors is the humble horror-comedy. The good ones make the subgenre's tonal balancing act look simple; the bad ones reveal just how difficult it is to find that balance in the first place. Today we've got the first trailer for My Best Friend's Exorcism (directed by Damon Thomas and based on the novel of the same name by Grady Hendrix), and so far it's looking like one of the former.

Let's see what we can see...

Hey, this looks fun! You've got your creepy imagery (just what the hell was that thing in the basement? Looks like the Cordycepted thing we saw on a wall in that Last of Us footage the other day), you've got your big gross-out moment (see the image at the top of this article), you've got a few solid gags in there. You've also got Elsie Fisher, star of Netflix's recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre...sequel? That's where we landed on that, right? Anyway, my point here is that My Best Friend's Exorcism is looking good, and we're excited to see it when it hits on September 30th.

And, oh, while you're here: be aware that Grady Hendrix himself interviewing My Best Friend's Exorcism star Amiah Miller in the new issue of FANGORIA, which you can read more about (and see the cover of!) over at this link. It's a beaut!
