We've had high hopes for Prime Video's Dead Ringers ever since we got wind of it back in August 2020 - and the official trailer released today proves we were right to get excited.

The limited series - which will be hitting Prime Video on April 21 - stars Rachel Weisz and boasts an impressive directorial team of Martha Marcy May Marlene's Sean Durkin (who helmed the first two episodes), Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, Girlfight), Karena Evans (P-Valley, Snowfall), and Lauren Wolkstein (The Strange Ones).

Prime describes the upcoming show as:

A modern take on David Cronenberg’s 1988 thriller starring Jeremy Irons, Dead Ringers stars Rachel Weisz playing the double-lead roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes—including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront.

Alongside Weisz and Weisz, Dead Ringers also stars Britne Oldford (The Umbrella Academy), Poppy Liu (Hacks, Better Call Saul), Michael Chernus (Severance, Orange is the New Black), Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty, Saint Maud) and Emily Meade (The Deuce, The Leftovers).

In a recent press panel, Emmy-nominated playwright Alice Birch, showrunner and writer on Dead Ringers, describes being drawn to the project and wanting to explore “the intensity of identical twins, the God-like power that comes with being a doctor, the signature body horror of Cronenberg and the fun the Mantle twins seemed to have (always with a martini glass in hand).” In the same panel, Weisz described the show as 'Deliciously mischievous at times [...] Emotional. Moving [...] darkly, darkly humorous.'

Birch and Weisz serve as executive producers, along with * deep breath * Stacy O’Neil, Sue Naegle, Sean Durkin, Ali Krug for Annapurna Television, Erica Kay, Anne Carey, Polly Stokes, James G. Robinson, David Robinson, and Barbara Wall for Morgan Creek.

Soundtracked by Soft Cell's iconic '80s banger Tainted Love, the new trailer gives us a glimpse into a world of sex, power, sordid medical experimentation and some of that dark humor that the iconic Ms Weisz was describing. Needless to say, it's an absolute MUST see for us sickos.

All six episodes of Dead Ringers will premiere on April 21 exclusively on Prime Video. The doctors will see you now:
