It's been six extremely long years since Damien Leone's Terrifier arrived, a period in which the cult surrounding this gory clown-slasher has only grown. A good number of horror fans fucking love Art the Clown (the mischievous and murderous scamp at the center of Leone's film), and have not been shy about expressing their desire to see a sequel. Well, it's 2022 now, and they're finally gonna get their wish.

Let's take a look at the trailer for Terrifier 2, which just landed online:

Well, it certainly seems as though Art the Clown (a returning David Howard Thorton) hasn't missed a step in the intervening years. He's doing pranks, he's doing murders, he's using a small flamethrower, he's scampering after his victims with all the energy of a murder-clown half his age. One has to assume that if you were a fan of Leone's original, what we're seeing in the trailer above will strike you as very exciting, indeed.

So, what's Art up to this time? The good folks over at Bloody Disgusting have the plot details:

Following his gruesome demise in the first film, a sinister presence has brought Art back to life to rein terror on the residents of Miles County. On Halloween night, he returns to the unassuming town and sets his sights on fresh prey: a teenage girl and her little brother, portrayed by Lauren LaVera and Elliott Fullam, respectively.

Yup, that sounds about right.

We won't be waiting too long to see Terrifier 2 for ourselves. This one will screen at FrightFest on August 29th, as part of this year's Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX towards the end of September, and then hit theaters (via Iconic Events) on October 6th, just in time for Halloween. Side note worth mentioning: according to Collider, this one's gonna be hitting theaters without an MPAA rating.

Stay tuned for more on Terrifier 2 as further updates become available.
