Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake II arrives today, which means that a great many of you are likely going to spend your weekend blowing through the game's excellent campaign. The general consensus seems to be that a complete Alan Wake II playthrough will take somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 hours, but what happens once the credits roll and there is no more game left to play? What then?

Well, for starters, Remedy has confirmed that a New Game+ mode is en route. We don't know exactly what it'll entail, of course, but if it's even half as intricate and compelling as the main campaign, it'll be well worth our time. While we're waiting to hear further details on NG+, however, do be aware that Remedy has just announced two expansions for Alan Wake II, both of which will be along in the late Spring of 2024.

The first of these expansions is called Night Springs, which Remedy is describing thusly (via IGN):

“Visions and dreams. Fiction is written and coming true. Fiction collapses and remains just words on a page. These are those stories … in Night Springs. Play as several familiar characters from the world of Alan Wake and experience the unexplainable in multiple self-contained episodes of Night Springs, a fictional TV-show set in the world of Alan Wake.”

Yes, Alan Wake's show-within-a-game will become an expansion pack, one that will put players inside Remedy's fictional, Twilight Zone-esque series. Here's hoping it's in black-and-white!

Beyond Night Springs, Remedy will also be releasing an expansion by the name of The Lake House:

“The Lake House is a mysterious facility situated on the shores of Cauldron Lake set up by an independent government organization to conduct secret research … until something goes wrong. Explore the Lake House and embark on two separate adventures as the realities of Saga Anderson and Alan Wake collide again.”

By now you may have heard that Alan Wake II shares some connective tissue with Remedy's other games, including 2019's Control. We're guessing The Lake House will make that connective tissue even more apparent, and look forward to whatever mindfuckery it entails (if there's one thing Remedy knows, it's mindfuckery).

Alan Wake II is out today via the PS5, XBOX Series, and PC. It's one of the year's best games (read our review here), and an all-timer horror game. Give it a whirl, and do stay tuned for further updates on Alan Wake II's post-release plans as they become available.
