Tomorrow sees the release of Remedy Entertainment's highly-anticipated Alan Wake II, a long overdue sequel to its 2010 cult classic horror title, Alan Wake. Fans have been clamoring for this follow-up for over a decade, and it appears their patience (well, "patience") will be rewarded: the review embargo on Alan Wake II just dropped, and the response is almost universally ecstatic.

That includes us, by the way: FANGORIA received a review code for Alan Wake II several days ago, and while we haven't played through nearly enough of Remedy Entertainment's latest to issue a full review of the game, we can confidently say that this sequel is bigger, weirder, and a helluva lot scarier than the original Alan Wake. Remedy takes some big swings with this sequel, and as far as we can tell most of those swings are connecting.

While you're waiting to get your hands on Remedy's latest, please enjoy this recently-released launch trailer, which shows off plenty of Alan Wake II's nightmarish imagery, its new playable character (that'd be Saga Anderson, an FBI agent whose nitty-gritty detective work offers some of this sequel's coolest gameplay elements), and more:

If you're interested in hearing more on Alan Wake II, be sure to check out this week's episode of FANGORIA's THE KINGCAST, in which Remedy Entertainment Creative Director Sam Lake (also the screenwriter behind Alan Wake, its sequel, and 2019's excellent Control) stops by to discuss Alan Wake II's long journey through production, horror gaming in general, and how Stephen King's On Writing influenced Lake's own work.

Alan Wake II will be available for the PS5, XBOX Series and PC as of tomorrow.
