Here's a fun thing: a new report over at Entertainment Weekly reveals that Penguin Random House are adding a brand-new title to their ongoing "Little Golden Book" series, one which will teach your children the alphabet while also teaching them about Xenomorphs. Specifically, the Xenomorphs from Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi/horror masterpiece, Alien.

Behold:

Yes, finally, the tale of the doomed crew of the Nostromo will be perfectly palatable for your "2-5" year old. Imagine their joy upon finding out what a Chestburster is mere moments before you turn off their light and tell them to go to sleep! Imagine how excited they'll be to learn about the fearless Jonesy the Cat, one of only two Nostromo crew members to survive their encounter with cinema's most vicious extraterrestrial! Why, I can practically hear their screams of delight now!

The book, written by Charles Gould with illustrations by Joey Chou, is currently up for pre-order at Penguin Random House's website (it will hit shelves on July 9th), which describes the tome thusly:

"In space no one can hear you giggle as you read this Little Golden Book featuring the characters from the classic movie Alien! Follow Ripley and the rest of the Nostromo crew on a space adventure that introduces the alphabet from A to Z. With fun illustrations, this light-hearted reimagining of the iconic movie Alien will delight fans young and old, as well as Little Golden Book collectors throught the universe."

If we've said it once, we've said it a thousand times: it's never too early to teach your children the various letters of the alphabet, and it's never too early to teach them that, in space, no one can hear you scream.

And speaking of Xenomorphs, stay tuned for more on the Alien franchise in the months ahead, folks: Fede Álvarez's still-not-yet-officially-titled Alien movie lands in August (all signs point to that one being something special, by the way), and Noah Hawley's long-gestating Alien series for FX is due to land next year. We'll keep you informed on all of the above as further updates roll in.
