Nintendo Switch owners who have been wanting to play Aliens: Fireteam Elite are finally in luck, as the game is indeed getting a release on the system later this month. Nintendo has confirmed that a digital, cloud-based version of the game will arrive for the Switch on April 26, which just so happens to be Alien Day. What good timing! For those who may not be familiar with this game’s brand of Xenomorph blasting shenanigans, a brief teaser trailer for the Switch edition of the game has been released. Have a look..

Now, this trailer may not reveal anything new to many of you out there, as Fireteam Elite first arrived in August 2021 for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Be that as it may, there is something to be said for being able to blast Xenomorphs on the go with the Switch. As far as price goes, the standard edition is currently listed for $38.99, the Into the Hive edition at $49.99 and the Ultimate Edition for $79.99. That edition includes the Pathogen expansion, which is a whole new campaign experience, in addition to other goodies such as other weapons. An official description of the game reads as follows:

“Play with up to two players or AI as you battle through four campaigns to explore the mystery of a new planet, LV-895. Discover what hides in the ruins and caves beneath in this third-person survival shooter set in the Aliens universe. Build your fireteam focusing on class composition, consumables, and weapons to take down Xenomorphs, beat Challenge Card runs, or play various game modes with friends. Blast through hordes of Xenomorphs, evade deadly Prowlers and Spitters, and set up defensive positions to stay alive long enough to get your fireteam to safety.”

Unfortunately for those who love the Switch, games tend to take a while to make their way to the console. It took a year and a half in this case, and it was a similar situation for Resident Evil: Village. That’s just the way the chips fall. Nintendo really is a world unto itself in the video game business that doesn’t play by everyone else’s rules.

On the plus side, it’s shaping up to be a big couple of years for this franchise. We’ve also got the Alien TV show for FX on the way, as well as director Fede Álvarez’s new movie, which is currently in production. Oh, and did we mention that there is another new game on the way in June in the form of Aliens: Dark Descent? So yes, much to look forward to.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite hits the Nintendo Switch on April 26. Those interested in securing a copy can pre-order their edition of choice via Nintendo.com.
