Some good news amongst all the cancellations this week; AMC's Mayfair Witches has been renewed for a second season after scoring solid ratings since its January 8th premiere on AMC and AMC+.

The series stars Alexandra Daddario (Texas Chainsaw 3D), Harry Hamlin (Mad Men), Annabeth Gish (Midnight Mass), and follows neurosurgeon Rowan Fielding (Daddario) who...

After discovering that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches, she must come to grips with her newfound powers and face off against a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.

Mayfair Witches is an adaptation of Anne Rice's novel trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches, and is the second entry into AMC's 'Anne Rice Universe'; the first being Interview with the Vampire which was also recently renewed for a second season. Esta Spalding (Masters of Sex), showrunner and executive producer had this to say of the Witches renewal;

“Anne Rice’s ‘Lives of the Mayfair Witches’ is a sumptuous epic tale that we’ve only begun to explore...I’m so grateful to the fans and viewers of the show who’ve given us the chance to continue telling this story.”

And there are a TON of Anne Rice tales still to explore; AMC's catalog of acquired Rice properties includes The Queen of the Damned, The Vampire Lestat, The Witching Hour, Memnoch the Devil, Pandora and many, many more. Mark Johnson, who is overseeing the entire Anne Rice universe for AMC Networks teased that we should be feeling '..great anticipation for the storytelling opportunities yet to come.'

Mayfair Witches is - at the time of writing - currently halfway through its first season with episodes directed by Axelle Carolyn (The Manor) and Michael Uppendahl (American Horror Story: Murder House). New episodes are released on AMC on Sunday nights at 9 PM ET.
