Our favorite macabre kid.

Christina Ricci is synonymous with Wednesday Addams, so when news dropped yesterday that Ricci was joining the cast of Tim Burton's upcoming Netflix series Wednesday, we all but lost our gourds. That's right, Ricci and series director Tim Burton are reunited after 1999's Sleepy Hollow and we are ready for all the spooky-ookie goodness!

Of course, we know the titular role will be played by rising horror royalty Jenna Ortega, so Ricci will not be reprising her role as our favorite macabre kid (all grown up). According to the Deadline article, Ricci was brought on shortly after Thora Birch exited the project, and is likely taking on Birch's former role (or something very similar) which we previously shared is described as:

Tamara Novak, "Wednesday’s dorm mother and the only 'Normie' on staff at Nevermore Academy with a focus on all things botanical."

If we had to wager a guess, we'd say Ricci will take over the dorm mother role, but maybe they "Ricci'd" it up a bit, tailoring it for the former Addams. Ricci did double duty as Wednesday Addams in 1991's The Addams Family and the 1993 followup Addams Family Values. Her deadpan delivery forever sealed her as an iconic character, and in our hearts... once an Addams, always an Addams. Whatever Ricci's character may be, we are crossing our fingers she's a homicidal maniac. They look just like everyone else.

Wednesday is slated to wrap filming in Romania at the end of the month, which hopefully means we'll have a release date soon.
