Charles Lee Ray will be at it once again very soon, as Chucky season 3 is about to get underway. As was confirmed by cast member Jennifer Tilly (in a roundabout way), the third season of the Syfy/USA Network series is indeed going into production soon, with the actress sharing a post on Twitter stating that filming is commencing next week. This happens to line up with a report from February suggesting production would get going on April 27. In any case, everyone’s favorite killer doll will soon be spilling blood for our amusement once again.

The series was renewed for a third season back in January not long after the conclusion of season 2. Don Mancini, who wrote the original Child’s Play and has been shepherding the franchise along ever since, heads up the show alongside Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner and Jeff Renfroe as executive producers. What is perhaps most remarkable is that Mancini has managed to keep the continuity of the series intact all this time, with the show tied directly to all seven movies (save for the 2018 remake). Virtually every other big ‘80s slasher has had their continuity retconned or rebooted multiple times. Chucky stands alone in this department, and Mancini is the man responsible.

Chucky season 2 focused on Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Devon Evans (Bjorgvin Arnarson) and Lexy Cross (Alyvia Alyn Lind) as they attend a Catholic School in an attempt to move on from the horrors they experienced at the hands of the legendary murderous doll. But this religious boarding school for wayward youths is no match for a Good Guys doll possessed by the spirit of a merciless serial killer.

Mancini has brought back many cast members from the movie into the series, including Tilly as Tiffany Valentine, as well as Brad Dourif as the voice of chucky. Alex Vincent (Andy Barclay), Christine Elise (Kyle), Fiona Dourif (Nica Pierce) and Billy Boyd (Glen/Glenda) have also made notable appearances. No official casting announcements have been made regarding the upcoming season, but one imagines several of the aforementioned familiar faces will be back in the saddle. There’s also no word on where the story will be headed, but all in good time.

Chucky season 3 does not have a release date yet but is expected to debut in the fall on Syfy and USA Network. Stay tuned.
