Chucky might only be three foot tall but he's still hitting those highs - since 1988, the tiny tycoon of terror has bagged himself a seven film franchise, a television series, a reboot, video games, comic books and more merch than you can shake a knife at. And now, Variety have revealed that Cinedigm have acquired North American rights to a new documentary on the devilish doll, which will air on Bloody Disgusting's horror streaming platform SCREAMBOX in early 2023.

Written and directed by Kyra Elise Gardner, Living With Chucky explores the roots of the iconic horror franchise and details the history of production, as well as focusing on Gardner's own relationship with the series and what Chucky means to her. Not only is she a franchise super-fan, Gardner has a closer relationship to Chucky than most - her father is puppeteer and designer Tony Gardner, who worked on a number of Child's Play films as well as leading puppetry on the recent Chucky tv series. Gardner even lovingly refers to Chucky as her "mass murdering 3-foot-tall redheaded stepbrother".

Living With Chucky, which premiered at Popcorn Frights Film Festival earlier this year, will also examine the franchise's impact on pop culture and horror cinema. Bloody Disgusting's Brad Miska had this to say about the iconic series:

“From Lin Shaye to Alex Vincent, the franchise’s exceptional cast, and tongue-in-cheek terror brought shrieks of fright and delight to audiences of all ages ... The wit and wickedness of that three-foot doll encapsulate everything that was great about 80s horror. It was not afraid to be funny. It was not afraid to be scary. Simply put, it was not afraid of anything.”

Lin Shaye and Alex Vincent will feature in the doc, as well as Mr Charles Lee Ray himself Brad Dourif, everyone's other favourite murderous doll Jennifer Tilly and franchise creator Don Mancini. The documentary will showcase exclusive and archival interview footage with other cast and crew members, as well as fans of the franchise like Marlon Wayans, John Waters, and Abigail Breslin

Chucky Season Two is currently airing on SyFy and USA Network.
