Just ahead of its release in theaters and On Demand this Friday, we are happy to share with you an exclusive look at Dark Windows. The upcoming slasher flick directed by Alex Herron features a cast of young up-and-comers who find themselves on a getaway gone wrong in the country. The clip we have for you today is the interrupting of the calm just before the storm. It’s the moment someone realizes they are tragically not alone in the house. Check it out.

The clip sees one of our seemingly doomed teenagers alone in a getaway house at night. What could go wrong? Some random, scary banging begins to occur, but unfortunately, nobody else is there to hear it. So, when she alerts her friends, they naturally have some doubts. Let the bad decision-making begin. And would you believe me if I told you they were having a little bit of trouble with cell reception at this countryside getaway? As for the specifics, the official synopsis for the film reads as follows.

“A group of teenagers take a trip to an isolated summerhouse in the countryside. What starts as a peaceful getaway turns into a horrific nightmare when a masked man begins to terrorize them in the most gruesome ways.”

Herron, who previously directed Leave, directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Wolf Kraft. The film, which held its premiere at this year's Popcorn Frights Film Festival, stars Anna Bullard, Annie Hamilton, Rory Alexander, Jóel Sæmundsson and Morten Holst. Herron, John Clark, David Kang and Jens Ramborg serve as producers. Herron, in a statement, had this to say about the film:

“I had had the idea for Dark Windows for a while, in a different angle, but at the core of it, it was the same – The consequences of making bad choices, alcoholism in young people, denial and grief. All terribly difficult things to deal with, especially when you are figuring out how to maneuver in the world. I wanted the story to grow slowly, to get to know Lilly, Monica and Peter, build the tension between them and bring it to a boil at the end, where the truth comes out. The climax of the movie had built for weeks since we shot the movie almost chronologically and everyone knew what it was building up to. And that day, shooting the final scene, not only was it dangerous, but exhausting for my actors, crew and myself. I’ve never felt so drained and relieved at the same time. At such a difficult time to shoot, I was so fortunate to find Anna, Rory and Annie, who all brought passion, creativity and talent to set, every day. Everyone involved had the same drive in a time where everything could have gone to hell at any moment.”

Dark Windows is in select theaters and On Demand beginning Friday, August 18.
