Today brings us the first poster for Gil Kenan's Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the sequel to Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters: Afterlife. That film took the action away from NYC and deep into the heart of Oklahoma, where a new generation of Ghostbusters was formed (and Paul Rudd was menaced by tiny Stay Puft marshmallow men inside a Walmart). Kenan's sequel brings the action back to the Big Apple, but this time the city's looking quite a bit different.
Specifically, it's encased in ice.
Yes, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire finds every living Ghostbuster (there appear to be eight of them on this poster) tackling a truly chilling new threat. The cast here is expansive, including Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Paul Rudd, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, Emily Alyn Lind, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O'Connor, Logan Kim, Annie Potts, and - last, but certainly not least - the great Carrie Coon.
Here's an official plot synopsis:
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
As previously reported, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will hit theaters on March 29th. We're excited to see if Kenan will bring some of the same inspired, supernatural magic that he previously brought to 2006's Monster House. Stay tuned for more on this one as further updates become available!
