Today brings us the first trailer for Gil Kenan's Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (yup, that's the official title). A direct sequel to 2021's mildly divisive Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the latest chapter in this long-running franchise brings the action back to the Ghostbusters' home town of New York City, and adds a murderer's row of funny people (including Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani and the UK's James Acaster) to the mix. So, how's it look?

See for yourselves...

Well, that looks like a lot of fun, doesn't it? NYC, covered in ice spikes. Patton Oswalt doing what Patton Oswalt does best (explaining nerdy stuff). Brief shots of a horned ghost we absolutely would not want to fuck with. We're into pretty much everything going on here, and look forward to seeing more. Remember, this is just the teaser trailer!

Here's an official plot synopsis:

"In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age."

In addition to Oswalt, Nanjiani and Acaster, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire also stars Paul Rudd, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Emily Alyn Lind, Ernie Hudson, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Logan Kim, Celeste O'Connor, Annie Potts and Carrie Coon (let's hope that it does not also star a ghoulish CGI rendering of Harold Ramis). That's one helluva stacked cast, and we're eager to see how their various energies gel onscreen.

Nothing further to report on Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire at this time, but rest assured we'll be keeping you well updated between now and the film's arrival in theaters on March 29th. Stay tuned, folks!
