Good news for everyone excited about the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire: Adam Wingard's sequel to 2021's Godzilla vs. Kong (note that the "x" in the new title indicates a collaboration between the two kaiju, whereas the "vs." in the previous film indicated their displeasure with one another) will now hit theaters a full two weeks earlier than expected.

Yes, according to an announcement that came in yesterday evening, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has left its April 12th release date and will now stomp its way into your local multiplex on March 29th. Millie Bobby Brown, Godzilla, Rebecca Hall, King Kong and Bryan Tyree Henry all return from the previous film, alongside franchise newcomer Dan Stevens.

Here's an official plot synopsis:

“This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

And here, in case you missed it the first time around, is the trailer:
