Even if you're not a heavy metal fan, chances are you've heard of GWAR, the absolutely bonkers metal band from Richmond, Virginia. Comprised of a frequently rotating group of band members and legendary for their grotesque costumes and commitment to soaking their audiences in a variety of, uh, fluids, GWAR is a singular "shock rock" act (they're also the subject of an excellent 2021 documentary by the name of This is GWAR; seek that out if you've never seen it).

Today, FANGORIA is honored to report the following exclusive: GWAR has joined the cast of Jason Lei Howden's Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, a sequel to Howden's Deathgasm!

Here's the announcement:

"It's official - the Scumdogs are invading the Deathgasm universe! That's right, GWAR, the legendary heavy metal band known for their over-the-top performances and outlandish personas, are set to make a cameo appearance in the highly-anticipated sequel Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon,
Following the massive success of the original 2015 Deathgasm which garnered a dedicated following for its unique blend of gore, humour, and metal, the creators of the sequel are pulling out all the stops to deliver an even more head-banging experience. Early this week it was announced that Matt Heafy, best known as the frontman of the chart-topping metal band Trivium, as well as his recent black metal side project Ibaraki, will be tackling the film's score."

Says Howden:

"Having GWAR join our cast is a dream come true. Their unique blend of music, humour, and theatricality perfectly aligns with the spirit of 'Deathgasm.' This cameo is going to be unforgettable!"

For those who haven't been keeping up with Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon s development, the sequel "continues the story 10 years later when a down-and-out Brodie uses a demonic spell to resurrect his dead bandmates in a bid to win back his ex-girlfriend, Medina, and attempt to win a big music competition. But things don’t go exactly as planned, and Brodie and his undead bandmates find themselves fighting off a zombie army hungry for human guts."

GWAR and Deathgasm. We simply cannot imagine a better marriage of movie and metalheads! For those who'd like to keep up with the film's progress or contribute to its development, be aware that the Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon Kickstarter is currently a third of the way to its $300,000 goal. Head on over there to find out more!

Nothing further to report on Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon or GWAR at this time, but do stay tuned for further updates on both as they roll in. Oh, and if you plan to see GWAR live any time soon ... consider bringing a poncho.
