Today brings us the latest trailer for Jeff Wadlow's Imaginary, which hits theaters in just under a month. This is one of the year's more heavily buzzed-about horror titles, and it's got a great hook: what if your imaginary friends weren't really your friends? What if they provoked you into doing dangerous things? And, even worse: what if your imaginary friends came back years later, very pissed to have been abandoned as you made the transition from childhood to adulthood? Probably nothing good!

We'll get to that new trailer in just a moment, but first, here's an official synopsis:

“Jessica moves back into her childhood home with her family. Her youngest stepdaughter Alice develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement.  Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.”

Got all that? Good. Here's the new trailer:

Yup, this still looks like a helluva lot of fun! Imaginary seems like it'll be a blast to watch with a crowd, and we're dying to see the various imaginary friends this movie brings to life - from the looks of it, each will be creepier than the last. Consider us sold, Jeff Wadlow and company!

Speaking of, here's Wadlow's commentary on the latest trailer:

“Not all imaginary friends are friendly … at least that’s what the characters at the heart of Imaginary are about to find out. I love making films that play with the audience’s perception of what is real and what is not, so a horror movie that explores the frightening possibilities of imaginary friends was the perfect sandbox for me to play in.
I think the movie we made is filled with unexpected twists, big scares, and above all else, a ton of thrilling fun. DeWanda, Pyper, and Taegen, the characters at the center of our story, are not only believable as a blended family but a blast to watch as the tale unfolds. I think audiences are going to love watching them go toe to toe with Chauncey, our evil little bear. I promise, you’ll never look at a Teddy the same way again.”

Imaginary stars DeWanda Wise (who's also onboard as a producer), Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, Veronica Falcon, and Betty Buckley. Wadlow (who previously helmed Cry Wolf and The Curse of Bridge Hollow) directs from a script he co-wrote with Greg Erb and Jason Oremland. They seem to have put together something very spooky here, and we're very much looking forward to seeing it when Wadlow's film hits theaters on March 8th.

Nothing further to report on Imaginary at this time, but stay tuned for updates as they roll in, folks!
