Hasbane Interactive has been working on Instinction for years now, with the first trailers making their way online way back in 2021. Dinosaur lovers such as myself have been eagerly awaiting the release of the survival game ever since. Now, the company has revealed a brand new gameplay trailer, offering a first look at the experience that all of that work has created. While it is an admittedly brief glimpse, it is a promising one. Check it out.

We’ve seen trailers that have showcased the environments and impressive dinos, but this is the first time we’re truly coming to understand what the actual hands-on experience is going to be. There’s a great deal of mystery and not much is revealed about the character at the center of the story. But now know that her name is Isabel at least. We also don’t get much about the story at hand, as we’re dropped right into the action in a Mexican jungle environment. How did we get there? More importantly, why are there dinosaurs there? Good questions to be answered at a later date.

There are a couple of dino encounters in the footage: a couple of them scary, one of them wondrous. The music is sweeping and the visuals are impressive. It looks like it’s almost going to be worth the wait. I say almost because, unfortunately, it’s still not coming out until the fourth quarter of 2025. We even listed this as one of the games to watch out for in 2023. So yeah, it’s been a long time coming. Why the long wait, you might ask?

Originally, Hasbane was independently producing and funding the game with a 2022 release being eyed. But when outside funding came into play, they were able to expand the scope of the game. That, in turn, led to a much longer development process. The brief synopsis for the game reads as follows:

Instinction is a first person prehistoric action-adventure with a wide-linear campaign. Gameplay will offer quests, puzzles, combat and exploration. Explore The Rift, filled with all manner of prehistoric beasts. You will need to be resourceful and quick-witted, only the brave survive.”

Instinction is set to arrive in late 2025. It will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Those who are already sold on it can pre-order a copy at PlayInstinction.com, with a starting price of $39.99.
