Kevin Bacon is re-teaming with Blumhouse Productions for a brand new TV show on Amazon Prime Video. The legendary actor is set to star in a series titled The Bondsman, which will see him portraying a bounty hunter. Not just any bounty hunter, mind you, but one who comes back from the dead!

According to Variety, Bacon has been set to star in the lead role in the action/horror show, which has been given a straight-to-series order by Amazon Studios. The first season will consist of eight half-hour episodes. Grainger David (The Chair) wrote the script and will also serve as an executive producer, with Erik Oleson (Carnival Row) on board as showrunner. Paul Shapiro, Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold and Chris Dickie are also on board as executive producers. As for the story? The synopsis for the series reads as follows:

“[The Bondsman] centers on Hub Halloran (Bacon), a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.”

One hiccup in the whole thing is that production on the show will not begin until the current WGA strike ends. What’s more, the Screen Actors Guild could be going on strike soon as well if a new deal is not reached with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The various guilds have been at odds with the AMPTP with issues including streaming royalties and the future of AI in movie and TV production. It’s a messy situation.

Bacon, meanwhile, is absolutely no stranger to genre storytelling. One of his first notable jobs was as a doomed camp counselor in the original Friday the 13th. He also starred in the beloved 1990 creature feature Tremors. Some of his more recent horror credits include You Should Have Left and They/Them, which was produced by Blumhouse and debuted on Peacock last year. You can also check out our interview with Bacon for that film. He also has the wildly underrated Stir of Echoes under his belt.

The Bondsman does not currently have a release date, but it seems like late 2024 would be a good bet, depending on the strike situation. Stay tuned.
