Kid Cudi, aka Scott Mescudi, is getting back in the horror game, this time with a zombie movie. Mescudi, known best as a rapper with hits like "Day 'n' Nite" and "Pursuit of Happiness" to his name, starred in last year's X from director Ti West and has set his next project in the form of Hell Naw. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has acquired what is described as an action horror/comedy. While plot details are pretty thin, what has been revealed instantly intrigues us.

The Lucas Brothers, comprised of Keith and Kenny Lucas (Judas and the Black Messiah), are set to pen the script for the film, which is said to be in early development. Also intriguing is the fact that Sam Levinson, of Euphoria fame, is on board to produce the film. No word yet on who will be in the director's chair, but that's a lot of talent already. As for the plot? All that's being said right now is "the film is set during Paris Fashion Week, and there will be zombies." Say no more! Mescudi had this to say about it in a statement:

“This movie has been five years in the making. I am telling the world now, this film will f*ck you up in all the best ways. I have been a horror fan since I was 7 years old, The first horror movies I ever saw were Night of the Living Dead and Evil Dead. And from that point on, I was hooked on the feeling of being frightened. I’ve been wanting to get into this world creating my own stories for a long time, and now, and after years of working it out in my head, it’s finally happening. Sam, The Lucas Brothers and myself have really crafted a tale we feel everyone who’s a fan of horror and comedy will enjoy. You will laugh, oh yes you will, but the horror aspect of this movie will really be something to see. You will be shook. I promise. Y’all know I don’t play around.”

The shift to Hollywood has been slow and steady for Kid Cudi. The musician-turned-actor also starred in Bill and Ted Face the Music, Don't Look Up, and several episodes of Westworld. But it sounds like this will be much more of a starring vehicle for him. It will be interesting to see what he does with the spotlight, particularly in light of his scene-stealing performance in X. Mescudi, Karina Manashil, Dennis Cummings and Ashley Levinson are also on board to produce the film, with Aaron L. Gilbert, Brenda Gilbert, Stuart Manashil, Kevin Turen, Harrison Kreiss, John Terzian and Jeremy Allen set to executive produce. Brian Toll will serve as associate producer.

Hell Naw does not yet have a release date set.
