Few horror fans understand struggle like Silent Hill fans. Since 2015, when Hideo Kojima’s terrifying P.T. was removed from the PlayStation Store, fans of the psychological horror game have been searching desperately for any hint, hope or sign of a revival of a franchise that – while troubled – delivered some of the most iconic and truly nightmare-inducing horror video games of all time.

This year alone has been full of speculation – from apparently leaked images of a Silent Hill 2 remake, to the mysterious Project Sakura, to Silent Hill movie director Christophe Gans fueling rumours of not one but SEVERAL ‘further games’ (alongside news of his own planned trip to revisit the town in film form).

Earlier this year, Korea’s game ratings board rated a title called Silent Hill: The Short Message, which fans took to mean that a new title in the Silent Hill franchise was imminent.

Now, Konami has confirmed via the official Silent Hill Twitter and corresponding countdown website that whatever news is coming will be confirmed on October 19th, a mere THREE DAYS FROM NOW.

While nothing more is confirmed by Konami at this point, it might be of interest to know that the tweet reads "In your restless dreams, do you see that town?", a quote from Silent Hill 2, the game that many fans consider to be one of the franchise’s strongest highlights.

Could we finally be getting the Silent Hill 2 remake that we deserve? Or will we get a brand new entry, with new themes, characters and (hopefully utterly horrifying) monsters? Does art director Masahiro Ito's retweet mean that members of the original Team Silent are involved in some capacity?

Whatever's coming, if you need us, we'll be staring at that countdown for the next three days.
