Scream king Kyle Gallner (Smile, Scream 5, Jennifer's Body) adds another terrifying genre flick to his filmography with The Passenger, for which the good folks over at Collider have today exclusively revealed a new trailer from MGM+ and Paramount Home Entertainment.

Directed by Carter Smith (The Ruins, Swallowed), The Passenger is described as "a violent adventure about finding the bravery necessary to face danger" and also stars Dog Gone's Johnny Berchtold. Here's more details from Collider:

Randy (Berchtold) is perfectly content fading into the background. But when his coworker Benson (Gallner) goes on a sudden and violent rampage leaving a trail of destruction in his wake, Randy is forced to face his fears and confront his troubled past to survive.

In our interview with Smith, the Jamie Marks Is Dead director described The Passenger further as:

“...a coming-of-age hostage road-trip thriller, which is a term I coined because it’s the only way I can figure out how to describe it! It stars Kyle Gallner and Johnny Berchtold, and it’s extremely fucked-up and bloody. It’s about these two guys who wind up on a road trip after a horrific incident, and things spiral out of control. They end up strangely becoming friends in a situation where friendship should not exist. I thought about this afterward; like Swallowed, it’s very much a two-hander, a couple of guys exploring the weird ins and outs of a very specific relationship.”

Alongside Gallner and Berchtold, Liza Weil (Gilmore Girls) and Billy Slaughter (Happy Death Day, Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon) also star.

The Passenger is written by Jack Stanley, whose credits include the upcoming Possession: A Love Story, and Lou starring Allison Janney, Jurnee Smollett, and Logan Marshall Green for Netflix. Horror maestro Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, and Jeremy Gold executive produced for Blumhouse Television, alongside Lauren Downey (Blumhouse Television’s Into the Dark, Bingo Hell).

Check out the first official trailer for The Passenger below (fair warning - this one looks VERY intense!), before the film releases on digital platforms on August 4.
