As expected, NEON has capped off a month's worth of Friday teaser trailer drops with the first official trailer for Oz Perkins' Longlegs, one of our most anticipated horror movies of the year. We've had great fun keeping up with this film's marketing campaign (you can read a brief recap of said campaign in this post), but now it's time to take our first, full look at the goods.
Let's see what we can see...
This trailer is certainly of a piece with NEON's previous Longlegs teasers! Here we get a couple fleeting glances at Nicolas Cage's titular serial killer, footage of Maika Monroe's FBI agent hot on his trail, a quick look at what appears to be an axe murder, plus a ton of unsettling glimpses at some of Longlegs' inherently weird imagery: a doll being constructed in a basement, an ominous silver orb laying in the palm of a mannequin's hand, more of that creepy coded language that appeared in the previous teaser trailers. Great stuff, all the way around, and all of it invested with that same dread that tends to come standard with each new Oz Perkins release. Hell yes to this movie!
Here's an official plot synopsis, if you missed it previously:
“FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”
Osgood Perkins' Longlegs, which also stars Blair Underwood and Alicia Witt, will hit theaters on July 12th. We imagine there'll be plenty more to gawk at in between now and its arrival in theaters, so stay tuned for those updates as they roll in.
