News about the upcoming Netflix Addams Family spinoff Wednesday has been steadily trickling out. Today, Variety announced, we have a Gomez! Back in May, new genre fave Jenna Ortega was announced as the titular Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton's new live-action adaptation. There has been much speculation and an abundance of fan suggestions regarding casting the iconic roles of Wednesday's parents, Gomez and Morticia. We finally have one-half of that answer! Luis Guzmán (Traffic, Code Black) will play Gomez Addams in the upcoming series.
The show is described as, "a supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore."
We've got our Gomez and Wednesday, now we are dying for the Morticia reveal!
Burton will be teaming up with Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar for the eight-episode series, and we cannot wait to see what they have in store for us at Nevermore Academy!
