According to a new report over at Deadline Hollywood, Lupita Nyong'o (who anchored Jordan Peele's Us and who will soon appear in the highly-anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) has climbed aboard Paramount's A Quiet Place: Day One, a forthcoming spin-off within the A Quiet Place franchise.

Says Deadline:

Not much more is known about this project other than it not being a threequel but rather a spinoff, based on an idea from Krasinski, who directed and starred in the first two films. The hope is this film would help set up a potentialĀ Quiet PlaceĀ universe that the studio can build on for years to come. It is also known that, while not out of the question, Emily Blunt and Krasinski likely would not reprise their roles in this installment. The film is set to bow on March 8, 2024.

A Quiet Place: Day One will be directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig), and boy will that film be lucky to have Nyong'o. The actress' turn in Us remains one of the best horror performances in recent memory, and we're utterly delighted to hear that she's making a return to the genre. Wish we knew more about the plot of A Quiet Place: Day One, perhaps, but then again: maybe we can glean the gist of the thing just from that title!

For those wondering, Sarnoski's spin-off does not represent the only A Quiet Place film currently in development: A Quiet Place Part III is still in the works with original director John Krasinski at the helm, with a release date expected sometime in 2025.

Nothing further to report on the fledgling A Quiet Place Cinematic Universe (the AQPCU, which really rolls off the tongue) at this time, but rest assured we'll be keeping you informed as the inevitable flow of updates cross our news desk. Stay tuned, folks.
