Here's a sweet still from HOUSE OF USHER (1960) because Flanagan's doesn't exist yet

Mike Flanagan took to Twitter on Thursday to announce the first wave of casting for the upcoming The Fall of the House of Usher. The unveiling comes just weeks before Flanagan and Co. start rolling on principal photography for the Netflix project. Flanagan says, "This miniseries is a modern remix of some of the most iconic works of Edgar Allan Poe. To tell this epic tale of greed, horror, and tragedy, we have assembled the largest ensemble cast in the history of Intrepid Pictures."

The first wave of casting includes Frank Langella as Roderick Usher, "the towering patriarch of the Usher dynasty," Carla Gugino reuniting with Intrepid for the fourth time, Mary McDonnell as Madeline Usher, Carl Lumbly as "Poe's legendary investigator C. Auguste Dupin" and...Mark Hamill. (The galaxy rejoices!) The second wave of cast announcements will happen Friday morning, and we can't wait to see who else will be revealed in this already stacked ensemble!

Flanagan will direct four episodes of the eight-part limited series, with frequent Flanagan collaborator Michael Fimognari taking the reigns on four as well. Intrepid Pictures has previously given us The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass. The Fall of the House of Usher joins another much-anticipated title on-deck, The Midnight Club. We're just excited to have two Flanagan projects to look forward to.
