Comedian, actor and writer Marlon Wayans (Requiem for a Dream, White Chicks, Scary Movie) is set to star in Goat, an upcoming psychological sports horror from Universal and Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions.

Deadline, who revealed the news exclusively today, also reveal that Justin Tipping (Dear White People, Kicks) is on board to direct the pic which is produced by Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, and Jamal Watson. Executive producers are David Kern and Kate Oh.

Details of Goat's plot are still few and far between, with Deadline simple commenting that:

The project, based on a pitch by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, centers on a promising young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star.

According to Deadline, studio execs have taken the screen testing route to find out who will be playing the character of the young athlete, but sources say Wayans was always top of the studio’s list for its titular character

While Wayans has dabbled in the horror genre before, he's mostly starred in horror comedies like Scary Movie 2, A Haunted House and Netflix's The Curse of Bridge Hollow. Whether or not Goat will have any comedy leanings remains to be seen, but personally we can't wait to see what Wayans does with a truly terrifying role.

That's all we have for you for now on Goat - we'll bring you more updates as soon as we get them!
