Keep calm everyone - after literal years of speculation, the long-awaited Five Nights at Freddy's film adaptation is not only going ahead - Deadline have today confirmed that it's also going to feature Scream icon Matthew Lillard and The Hunger Games' Josh Hutcherson.

Jason Blum confirmed on Twitter earlier this year that filming for Five Nights at Freddy's would start in February 2023, with Emma Tammi (The Wind, Into the Dark) directing and FNaF series creator Scott Cawthon writing and producing. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop will be working alongside Blumhouse to bring the game’s terrifying animatronics to life.

Deadline describes the plot of Five Nights at Freddy's as follows:

Five Nights at Freddy’s follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.

Since 2014, Five Nights at Freddy’s has grown from an indie point-and-click survival game into a media-spanning franchise, so for anyone who's played the many FNaF games, the synopsis will obviously be familiar.

It's not yet known how much the film adaptation will differ, or what roles Lillard and Hutcherson will play. Keep an eye out (and one on the door) for more information on Five Nights at Freddy's as it comes!
