XYZ Films announced today that Mexican filmmaker Michelle Garza Cervera's debut Huesera: The Bone Woman will be released exclusively in theaters on February 10 2023 across the U.S. The film will land on VOD on February 16 2023, with a Shudder release following shortly (in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand).

Huesera: The Bone Woman (formerly known just as Huesera) premiered earlier this year at New York's Tribeca Film Festival winning both the Best New Narrative Director and Nora Ephron awards. The supernatural horror then went on to win the Blood Window Award for Best Feature Filmand the Citizen Kane Award for Best Directorial Revelation at Sitges.

Huesara: The Bone Woman follows:

...Valeria (Natalia Solián), a young woman expecting her first child who becomes cursed by a sinister entity. Plunged into a terrifying and dangerous world, a group of witches emerge as her only hope for safety and salvation, but not without grave risk.

Garza Cervera's film has received hugely positive reviews for its depiction of motherhood and pregnancy, with a 97% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, being described by The Hollywood Reporter as “an astute study of desire and self-deception”.
