January blues got you down? We guarantee you this gorgeously gaudy brand new trailer for Lisa Frankenstein will cheer you up.

Director Zelda Williams and writer Diablo Cody (of the iconic Jennifer's Body) are slashing back to the 1980s with a “paranormal love story" which puts a fabulously fresh spin on Mary Shelley's classic horror novel Frankenstein. Starring Freaky's Kathryn Newton and Riverdale's Cole Sprouse, Lisa Frankenstein is one of our most anticipated movies for 2024 - and after this trailer, it'll be on your list too.

An official synopsis reads:

“A coming of RAGE love story about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness… and a few missing body parts along the way.”

Alongside Newton and Sprouse, the cast also includes the ever-fantastic Carla Gugino (The Fall of the House of Usher), Liza Soberano (Alone/Together), Joe Chrest (Stranger Things) and Henry Eikenberry (The Crowded Room).

The brand new trailer and poster (seen below) tease an homage to all the things we love about '80s horror - big hair, bonkers fashion and a generous helping of grisly gore. Inspired by 80s classics like Weird Science, Beetlejuice and Night of the Comet, Cody has already promised that Lisa Frankenstein "...captures the simpler vibe of that time.”

Lisa Frankenstein hits theaters on on February 9, 2024 - perfect timing for your Valentine's Day movie dates. Plus, don't forget you can read more about Lisa Frankenstein in the upcoming issue of FANGORIA!
