Let's kick off the week with some reckless speculation: according to a new report at Geek Vibes Nation (and as spotted by Bloody Disgusting), a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie might be headed our way! Geek Vibes Nation sources their report to Daniel RPK, a scooper of some renown, and suggests that the latest entry in the series could be titled Texas Chainsaw Legacy.

What's Texas Chainsaw Legacy (allegedly) about? We're glad you asked!

“The film is set to explore the seemingly peaceful façade of Oasis Oaks, a gated community in rural Texas,” the site notes. “Within the manicured lawns and vigilant security, a protagonist family enjoying suburban bliss becomes entangled in a harrowing battle for survival as they confront the infamous Leatherface and his macabre kin on an abandoned property nearby.”

At present this is all just a rumor, to be sure, but let's assume for a second that the above is accurate - that's a pretty solid set-up for a new Chainsaw! So many Texas Chainsaw movies keep the action to the dusty backroads and darker corners of the Lone Star State, when the reality is that much of Texas is a suburban sprawl. The idea of pitting a family within a gated community against Texas' most infamously bloodthirsty band of cannibals is a strong one (yes, the synopsis says our doomed victims encounter Leather and company on a nearby abandoned property, but you don't really think they'd turn down the opportunity to have Leatherface storm across a few carefully-manicured lawns swinging that 'saw, do ya?), and we're very curious to see if this particular rumor turns out to be true.

Bloody Disgusting's report goes on to indicate that they, too, have heard rumblings about a new Texas Chainsaw being in the works, which lends Daniel RPK and Geek Vibes Nation's report a little extra credence.

The most recent entry in this long-running franchise was 2022's Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which premiered on Netflix to a mixed response from fans. It's unknown at this time whether anyone involved with that film might be involved with the (allegedly) gestating Texas Chainsaw Legacy, but rest assured we'll be keeping our ear to the ground for further updates, and will have those in front of you just as soon as we hear 'em. Stay tuned, folks!
