Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday Addams and star of the 1960's sitcom The Addams Family, has sadly passed away at age 64, Variety have confirmed today.

Variety reports that Loring suffered a stroke on Saturday, with her daughter Vanessa Foumberg confirming the news via Facebook. Foumberg stated that “she went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands."

Loring's work as Wednesday in all 64 episodes of the sitcom (which ran from 1964 to 1966) set the stage for all future adaptations of the character, including most recently when Jenna Ortega paid homage to her infamous shuffle dance 'The Drew' in 2022's Wednesday. Her post-The Addams Family work included The Pruitts of Southampton, As the World Turns, and slashers Blood Frenzy, Iced and Savage Harbor.

The Munsters star Butch Patrick, who also played a beloved child of a spooky family in his role as mini werewolf Eddie Munster, wrote the following heartfelt message on Facebook, “Very sorry to hear of my dear friend Lisa Loring’s passing. We were very close and worked together often. I know she was very weak. I was in her company just a few weeks ago. Godspeed my friend.”

All of us at FANGORIA would like to extend our condolences to Lisa's family and friends. May she rest in peace.
