Pinhead to some, Pickman to others – the great Doug Bradley is in talks to join the cast of Pickman’s Model, an upcoming adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s 1926 short story of the same name. Pickman’s Model will be the second Lovecraft adaptation from filmmaker and sculptor Bryan Moore, his first being 1999’s Cool Air which was described by Guillermo Del Toro as an ‘ingenious and heart-felt tribute to the classic tale.’

Lovecraft’s original short story (which was referenced in John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness) follows a Bostonian painter who becomes ostracized from the local art community due to his increasingly graphic depictions of terrifying monstrous beings.

As Doug Bradley is a master at playing monstrous beings, Moore knew the Hellraiser icon had to be part of his new feature. In a statement, Moore expressed his excitement for the potential casting:

“What sold me on the idea of approaching Doug wasn’t so much his great performances in the Hellraiser films, but his amazing readings on his YouTube Channel of horror staples in the literary canon, such as Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven. Doug had a quality in delivering that material in such a way that I hadn’t seen before; an intelligent presentation that raised the bar in just how high the quality can be in the groundwork of literary horror, which, of course, is where all of this started.”

To get in touch with Doug, Moore reached out to old friend, horror expert and former Fango editor Tony Timpone, who expressed his excitement at the project calling it “a match made in Heaven...or perhaps somewhere warmer.”
