Perpetrator, the upcoming 'coming-of-age, feminist horror-noir' from Knives and Skin director Jennifer Reeder, gets a witchy new trailer today thanks to Shudder.

Starring Kiah McKirnan (Mare of Easttown, Prime's Night Sky), Melanie Liburd (Power Book II, the upcoming Bad Boys 4), Christopher Lowell (Promising Young WomanHow I Met Your Father) and Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, The Killing of a Sacred Deer), the film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, followed by Tribeca. The plot details read as follows:

Jonny Baptiste (McKirnan) is a reckless teen sent to live with her estranged Aunt Hildie (Silverstone). On her 18th birthday, she experiences a radical metamorphosis: a family spell that redefines her called Forevering. When several teen girls go missing at her new school, a mythically feral Jonny goes after the Perpetrator.

Early reviews of Perpetrator have described it as a "a trip dripping in blood and atmosphere" and lying "somewhere between camp and Cronenberg", and from the looks of this trailer we can totally see why. Generous amounts of blood, humor and body horror packed into the trailer certainly bode well for the finished product, hence why it's one of our most anticipated horrors of the year (and featured in our latest issue!)

Catch Perpetrator streaming on Shudder and opening in select theaters on September 1st, and here's the brand new trailer to whet your appetite:
