Among the many genre delights headed to the Sundance Film Festival later this month is writer/director Chris Nash's debut feature film and Shudder Original In a Violent Nature - and today's brand new poster gives us a sneak peek at a hulking new slasher named 'Johnny'.
Starring Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor, In a Violent Nature follows “the enigmatic resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wilderness." We're in.
A full plot synopsis reads as follows:
When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back - along with anyone in his way.
Producing alongside Shudder is Peter Kuplowsky and Shannon Hanmer. In a statement, Shudder’s vice president of programming Samuel Zimmerman had this to say about the upcoming Shudder Original:
