It's been a hot minute since we heard anything about Immaculate, the upcoming religious horror starring Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, Anyone But You), but Deadline have announced today that the film has been acquired for U.S. distribution by genre titans Neon (The Lodge, Infinity Pool, It Lives Inside)
Immaculate will see Sweeney reunite with director Michael Mohan, who directed her in 2021's The Voyeurs as well as Netflix's Everything Sucks. Alongside Sweeney, the film stars The White Lotus' Simona Tabasco, Alvaro Morte (Money Heist), Benedetta Porcaroli (Baby) and Dora Romano (The Hand of God).
Immaculate's plot is described as follows:
"Sweeney stars in the film as Cecilia, a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent. The synopsis describes her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside being interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors dark and horrifying secrets."
Nuns? Creepy convents? Immaculate? We think we kinda have an idea of where this one is going... and we're so in.
Unfortunately for all of us, Immaculate does not yet have a theatrical or streaming release date, so we'll have to wait a little longer for further updates. Keep your eyes peeled!
