At long last, today brings us the first official, red-band trailer for Eli Roth's Thanksgiving, a holiday-themed slasher based on the faux trailer the Cabin Fever director created for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse all the way back in 2007. That version of the trailer was memorably grimy, punctuated with multiple jaw-dropping sight gags (the "trampoline/knife" bit, the "stuffed turkey" bit, and so forth) and with its very own exploitation era voiceover.

What's the 2023 version look like? Let's take a look...

Pretty solid! Obviously a number of the Grindhouse trappings have been set aside here (goodbye, guttural voiceover; goodbye, trampoline/knife gag), but it's clear that the 2023 Thanksgiving will deliver some of the same twisted magic that Roth teased some 16 years ago. It's interesting to see Roth updating some of these bits while dropping others entirely, and we're very curious to find out what sort of holiday-themed kills didn't make the cut here. With Roth at the helm, there's really no telling how wild things will get!

Here's an official plot synopsis, should you require one:

"After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the infamous holiday.”

As previously reported, Thanksgiving was directed by Eli Roth and scripted by Jeff Rendell. It stars Gina Gershon, Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Milo Manheim, Nell Verlaque, Tim Dillon and Rick Hoffman, and will hit theaters on November 17th.

Here's the film's official poster, on the off-chance you missed it yesterday:

Nothing further to report on this one at this time, but do stay tuned for further updates on Thanksgiving as they roll in, you turkeys!
