The BIRTH/REBIRTH Trailer Raises Hell (And The Dead)

Laura Moss' directorial debut looks like one of 2023's creepiest horror films.

It would appear the characters in Laura Moss' forthcoming directorial debut, birth/rebirth, are not the biggest Pet Sematary fans. If they were, they'd know that "sometimes dead is better..."

...but if that were the case we'd have no movie to watch! And that'd be a real shame, because this birth/rebirth trailer is one of the creepiest we've seen all year. Check it out:

Here's an official plot synopsis, should you require one:

"Rose (Marin Ireland) is a pathologist who prefers working with corpses over social interaction. She also has an obsession — the reanimation of the dead. Celie (Judy Reyes) is a maternity nurse who has built her life around her bouncy, chatterbox six-year-old daughter, Lila (A.J. Lister). When one tragic night, Lila suddenly falls ill and dies, the two women's worlds crash into each other. They embark on a dark path of no return where they will be forced to confront how far they are willing to go to protect what they hold most dear."

The press release we received for Moss' film (which hits theaters next month) informs us that "This standout directorial debut from Laura Moss reimagines Mary Shelley’s classic horror myth Frankenstein with such a contemporary understanding that it becomes something exciting, terrifying, and singularly new," and by all accounts that's precisely what Moss has accomplished here. We may have seen this kind of horror movie before, but birth/rebirth looks like one hell of a fresh and interesting take on "reanimating the dead" trope.
