Hey, did you know 20th Century has a brand-new Omen movie headed our way, a prequel by the name of The First Omen? Well, now you know. And what's more, they've released our very first look at the film, which comes to us from director Arkasha Stevenson and will exclusively hit theaters this coming April.

Let's take a peek...

Well, that certainly looks the right amount of spooky and gothic! Let's see what their press release has to say for itself:

"When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. “The First Omen” stars Nell Tiger Free (“Servant”), Tawfeek Barhom (“Mary Magdalene”), Sonia Braga (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Ralph Ineson (“The Northman”), and Bill Nighy (“Living”). The film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, based on characters created by David Seltzer (“The Omen”), with a story by Ben Jacoby (“Bleed”) and a screenplay by Tim Smith & Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas (“Firestarter”)."

The original The Omen, you'll recall, arrived all the way back in 1976 via director Richard Donner. In that film, a family adopts a young boy by the name of Damien, who (it turns out after a number of people in and around the family wind up dead) might be the literal Antichrist. We all hate when that happens.

The plot synopsis above is pretty light on details, but if this is a prequel to The Omen and the story revolves around a young woman attempting to stop "the birth of evil incarnate," we can probably extrapolate out some assumptions about how The First Omen plays out.

Nothing further to report on The First Omen at this time, but stay tuned between now and the film's arrival in theaters on April 5th for further updates.
