Tomorrow, the FANGORIA Podcast Network's THE KINGCAST ("A Stephen King Podcast For Stephen King Obsessives") hits a major milestone: its 200th episode!
To mark the occasion, hosts Eric Vespe and Scott Wampler have put together what may be their most unhinged and elaborate anniversary special yet, a three-hour-plus episode covering the entirety of Stephen King's 1993 short story collection, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, with a different special guest recapping each one of the book's 24 stories.
Booking two dozen guests for one podcast indistinguishable from herding cats, but the KINGCAST boys persevered, bringing together a lineup comprised of a number of guests from the show's past, including (deep breath) Patton Oswalt, David Farrier, David Dastmalchian, Mallory O'Meara, Akela Cooper, Steven Graham Jones, Josh Gondelman, Matt Fraction, David Lowery, Josh Ruben, Mike Flanagan, Trae Crowder, Chuck Tingle, Laura Lux, Wynter Mitchell, Flula Borg, Daniel Danger, Devon Sawa, Steve Agee, Michael Kennedy, Dave Schilling, Josh Robert Thompson, SNL's James Austin Johnson, and - last, but certainly not least - the wonderful Kate Siegel.
In addition to recapping each story in Nightmares & Dreamscapes, this episode also functions as something of a murder mystery: turns out a masked slasher is stalking the guests at Camp Nightmares and Dreamscapes, and listeners will hear each of the above guests murdered on-air in a variety of bone-chilling and utterly ridiculous ways. Who is stalking and killing the campers at Camp Nightmares and Dreamscapes? You'll have to listen to the very end to find out.
