Resident Evil is one of the most enduring and beloved franchises in all of gaming (if not all of horror, for that matter). While the series has continued to keep things fresh with new games such as Village, Capcom has also been doing good by fans with modern updates for classic titles in the series in recent years. Next up, we're getting a remake of Resident Evil 4, with the much-anticipated game due to hit shelves in exactly a month. And, as revealed during Sony's recent State of Play, we've got a brand new, action-packed trailer showcasing the monster-filled goods. Check it out.
This is the third full-length trailer released for the game, and, at this point, no punches are being pulled. We see an awful lot of our hero, Leon S. Kennedy, as well as the game's big baddie, Krauser. Not to mention plenty of zombies and other such monsters created by the T-Virus, brought to life in stunning HD with new gaming consoles in mind. It looks very true to what players loved about the 2005 original while bringing something slick and new to the table. In short, it looks pretty great.
A view of the trailer also leads us to the other big reveal, which is that it has officially been announced The Mercenaries is returning as DLC for this game. This game mode is quite popular amongst fans and has appeared throughout the Resident Evil series in the past. The mode will be available as free post-launch DLC, as an added bonus. For those who may need a refresher on the main game's story, the synopsis reads as follows:
"6 years have passed since the biological disaster in Raccoon City. Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president of the United States. With the experience of multiple missions on his back, Leon is sent to rescue the president's kidnapped daughter. He tracks her to a secluded European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the villagers. And the curtain rises on this story of daring rescue and grueling horror."
Last but certainly not least, it was also announced that a demo of the game will be released soon. Unfortunately, no specific release date for that demo was announced at this time, but with the game's actual release date creeping up fast, one imagines that information will be coming very, very soon. So players who are feeling particularly eager to get a taste of what's to come would do well to stay tuned.
Resident Evil 4 arrives on March 24 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
