There's a new podcast in town! We're excited to have Kyra and Tony Gardner's podcast Flesh & Blood & Bone on the FANGORIA podcast network. The father-daughter duo are taking listeners behind the scenes, and we are in for one hell of a ride.

Tony Gardner is a special effects makeup artist who has established a career creating fantastic makeups and frightening monsters. He’s designed and created effects for many feature films, including Zombieland, 127 Hours, Hairspray, Hocus Pocus, and Bad Grandpa. His special effects company, Alterian, has also created designs outside of features such as Daft Punk’s helmets and the GEICO caveman characters.

His daughter, Kyra, prefers directing projects with heavy practical makeup effects rather than applying them. She attended Florida State University’s film program and has been directing stories from the lore of her unconventional childhood since. Kyra has been working in the music video and documentary space - recently selling her documentary feature, Living With Chucky, to Cinedigm. She is currently gearing up for her first narrative horror feature film and is excited to shoot her first decapitation scene with her dad helming the special effects.

Kyra has always enjoyed hearing Tony's stories and knew we would, too. "I wanted to start this podcast with my dad because I've grown up hearing such amazing and wonderful stories behind some of my favorite films that he's worked on. I think other people would enjoy hearing these fun and inspiring stories, especially those who appreciate the types of genres my dad works in."

Here's a look at the show's official synopsis.

This father daughter podcast is hosted by filmmaker Kyra Gardner and her legendary special effects makeup artist dad Tony Gardner. Each month they go behind the scenes on how Tony created his greatest monsters and makeups, deep dive into his vast filmography, and share bits of Kyra’s unconventional childhood.

She also shares her continuing journey in the independent filmmaking world and spotlights fellow artists and creature actors she’s come to know in the genre. Each episode takes its own path but always at the core is a father daughter duo that hopefully melts your horror loving heart.

That "unconventional childhood" was Kyra's norm, it wasn't film school that the reality of it set in a bit. "Growing up, fantasy was always my reality so it wasn't until I went to film school that I truly understood how unique of a childhood I had. I was lucky that I fell in love with the same industry as my dad and although he works in a different department, I've been so fortunate to come to him with any questions, advice, or support. I hope to bring those questions and answers to our podcast, where we can share our collective knowledge about a more lucrative industry so that those outside of it, either wanting to join or know more, find a support system we can hopefully provide through our podcast. Also getting to spend more time with my dad doing anything, let alone hearing wacky and inspiring stories of his career, is always a plus."

We can't way to hear those wacky and inspiring stories. The first episode of Flesh & Blood & Bone is now available, with new hour-long episodes every month.
