A once-peaceful remote country village is under attack—but by who or what, no one knows. Villagers spread rumors of a cursed land, supernatural forces, and even demonic creatures, as the disappearances and killings continue. Pathologist John McBride arrives to investigate the danger, only to discover something much deeper and more sinister than he ever could have imagined.
Writer-director Sean Ellis was inspired by thoughts of "what plagues us in modern society" and focused on the different types of addiction present, "whether it be to drugs, our phones, or anything else - and how that addiction can destroy families and communities." Ellis goes on to say,
"We have all experienced that wolf that lurks inside us, that whispers to us, that sometimes leads us to stray from the right path and make us prisoners to its impulses. This new take on the idea also informed my approach to how people would physically change into the wolf. I didn’t want the characters to go through the typical transformation of growing hair, sprouting teeth, and howling at the moon. Instead, I wanted them to literally become prisoners of the beast. To be completely consumed and ingested by it."
We have an exclusive sneak peek at The Cursed as Timmy tries to recall the events from the night before, "all I remember was the silver teeth." He recounts the tale of Judas bargaining to turn Jesus over in exchange for "thirty pieces of silver." Which is leading us to some fun theories, but take a look at the clip for yourself.
