YELLOWJACKETS (2022)

Yellowjackets has provided a snack-sized little treat for us in this tasty little morsel of a teaser trailer. The show's official Twitter account teases, "You won't be hungry much longer." Morbid. Disgusting. We love it. Take a look.

A haunting little music track, snowy terrain, an ax carving into tree bark juxtaposed against blood (?) being smeared on skin. That familiar and mysterious symbol traced onto the frosted-over glass. The remains of... something... partially buried in the snow, so quick it's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. Knives carving into flesh, blood spilling from fresh wounds. That symbol, embroidered into cloth and carved into wood.

Season one SPOILERS below!

Season one left us with lots of questions. As winter falls upon the Yellowjackets, we find out exactly how Jackie died— frozen to death outside the cabin after exiling herself from the group following their shroom-induced tirade. We don't know just yet how they turn to cannibalism, who is the first to be eaten, how many are eaten, or who else made it out of the wilderness. All signs point to Lottie as the new leader, forging the way into cannibal kingdom, from which there is no return.

In the latest Be(ware) The Swallowing column, Lea Anderson wonderfully breaks down the homoerotic cannibalism inYellowjackets. (Do I want to fuck you, be you, or eat you?). We may not get all the answers to all of those questions in the upcoming sophomore season, but we'll certainly be a bit closer to some of the answers at least. And we're enjoying the hell out of the brutal, ravenous journey. Yellowjackets season 2 hits Showtime March 24.
