Despite the fact that the movie hit theaters less than three weeks ago, Meg 2: The Trench is already headed to VOD, allowing you to watch the giant shark goodness from the comfort of home. Indeed, Warner Bros. is bringing director Ben Wheatley’s sequel to 2018’s The Meg home beginning August 25 - or from the time of this writing tomorrow - with the film hitting digital retailers for your viewing pleasure.

Meg 2 Physical Release Date and Max Streaming Speculations
For physical media collectors out there, fear not! The movie will also be coming to Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD a little later this year as well. Meg 2’s physical release date has been set for Tuesday, October 24. Mark your calendars. The only question that remains is when the sequel will be available on the Max streaming service, but one expects that will probably happen sometime between the VOD and the Blu-ray release.

The short answer is that it hasn’t made very much money in North America, with the movie only making $68.8 million at the domestic box office up to this point. That’s not much for your typical $130 million-budged blockbuster. Fortunately, it has made a killing overseas, with the film based on Steve Alten’s novels taking in $251.1 million internationally up to this point. So Warner Bros. is merely trying to give audiences in the U.S. the option to watch it at home since they don’t seem to be in a rush to head to the theater.
