After making a killing at the box office, raking in a massive $32.6M at the domestic box office opening weekend, making it the second biggest opening for an Insidious film since 2013's Insidious: Chapter Two, The Red Door is coming home.
While the domestic opening weekend box office was impressive in itself, worldwide box office take opening weekend was $64M, nearly double its domestic take. Not bad for a horror movie with a $16M production budget! Directed by star Patrick Wilson, The Red Door returns to the story of the Lambert family (Wilson, Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins and Andrew Astor) ten years after their reckoning with malevolent spirits from a demonic astral plane known as the Further. After Josh Lambert (Wilson) drops his eldest son Dalton (Simpkins) off to start his college education, what should be the most exciting time of Dalton's life turns hellish as the pair realize the Further might not be finished with them just yet...
