Here's some good news: according to The Hollywood Reporter, Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin has partnered up with Wild Atlantic Pictures' John Keville and Macdara Kelleher for a new, genre-focused production outfit by the name of Doppelgängers. But that's not all!

Says THR:

"The company is starting hot out of the gate, signing a first-look deal with New Line Cinema for its feature film projects. New Line released Evil Dead Rise in 2023, with the movie making a splash at last year’s SXSW and going on to gross $147 million worldwide. Cronin and New Line are currently in development on a horror-thriller titled Thaw."

You might recall our previous reporting on Thaw, all the way from March of last year, where we obtained the following synopsis:

Set years after the polar ice caps have melted and the sea levels have risen, the story centers on a group of survivors at sea searching for a new home. Their prayers are answered with the discovery of an inhabitable town until, that is, they encounter a new nightmare living just below the water’s surface.

Yup, that sounds very much within Cronin and company's wheelhouse! Also, and not for nothing, it will be fun to see Cronin taking on a project with something of a post-apocalyptic bent. Lord knows that decrepit-ass apartment building in Evil Dead Rise already looked like something out of a post-apocalyptic world. Odds here, he's gonna make Thaw look good.

Nothing further to report on Doppelgängers or Thaw at this time, but rest assured we'll keep you informed as further updates roll in. Stay tuned, folks.
