Marvel is getting ready to go full-on horror this fall with another edition of Marvel Zombies. The publisher has announced that the wildly popular series of tales within the larger Marvel multiverse (where superheroes and zombies co-exist) will return in the form of Marvel Zombies: Black, White & Blood in October. The four-issue series features an all-star lineup of talent tackling a number of grim-sounding stories featuring some of Marvel’s biggest heroes.

While full details for all four issues have yet to be revealed, Marvel did unveil some brutal-looking cover art featuring a decaying, zombified Wolverine (which you can check out above) and another of Iron Man (which can be seen below). The publisher also revealed the plotlines and creative teams for three of the stories, which will center on Daredevil, Spider-Man and Moon Knight, respectively. The loglines for the stories are as follows:

Legendary writer Garth Ennis returns to the Marvel Universe alongside artist Rachael Stott to reveal the tragic fate of Matt Murdock. As a zombie, Daredevil has committed unspeakable sins, and now it’s time for an old accomplice to finally put him out his misery.
Behold one of Spider-Man’s darkest days in a story by writer Alex Segura and artist Javi Fernández. He’s saved the world time and time again with a quip and a thwip, but when he’s forced to fight fiendish versions of his loved ones, will Peter Parker do the unthinkable and give up?!
Writer Ashley Allen makes her Marvel Comics debut and teams up with artist Justin Mason for a jaw dropping Moon Knight tale. Discover how Khonshu, god of the moon and vengeance, intervenes during apocalyptic times to protect his loyal avatar, Marc Spector!

That Spider-Man story sounds particularly bleak. Though there’s also the matter of these “unspeakable sins” that zombie Daredevil has been committing. What remains a little unclear for the time being is whether each of these stories will encompass an entire issue of the miniseries, or if these three stories will make up the first issue, with much more to come in the other three.

For those who may not be familiar, Marvel Zombies started life in December 2005 and was written by Robert Kirkman with art by Sean Phillips. Kirkman, of The Walking Dead fame, told a tale in an alternate universe where many of the world's superheroes have been infected with a zombie virus. Marvel has revisited this universe several times over the years, and they even did an animated version of it in the What If…? series on Disney+. There’s also a full-on Marvel Zombies animated series in the works for the streaming service, though we haven’t heard anything about that in quite some time.

Marvel Zombies: Black, White & Blood hits shelves on October 25.
